So I finally jumped on the bandwagon and joined MyBloglog.  And, I honestly have to say I find it all a little overwhelming.  Now that I know who is reading my blog (since there are a ton of lurkers that do not comment- hint, hint!) I want to see what their blog has to offer, and I find myself lost in the blog-o-sphere hours later.  Work and motherly duties be damned- I have blogs to read!

Ohhh….who is this person….who is that….hmmmm….interesting….click click…no honey, I don’t know where the baby is….yeah, I’ll start dinner in a minute….clickity clack….he took his diaper off again?….clickity clack….

And then of course, there is my dusty blogroll that has been seriously neglected.  These are blogs that I went out of my way to spotlight, but then I am a complete slacker when it comes to reading them.  So I set out this evening to catch up, which is no easy feat.  In fact, I gave up halfway through it.  Some of the blogs, I found something instantly to comment on, while others had l—ooooo—-nnnnn-g posts and I couldn’t bring myself to actually finish them.  Now, don’t get me wrong, they were amazing posts, I am just lazy today.  So if you didn’t get a comment, don’t take it personally.  I have had to pee for like an hour now, but haven’t gotten up the strength to get up from the computer chair yet.

Then a handful of them (maybe more) I had serious issues with.   Some of these blogs are nothing but Pay Per Post ads.  The blogs in question, used to be good.  They were full of witty commentary and stories.  I enjoyed reading them and looked forward to finding out what happened in the saga that was their world.  But now, I find 15 paid blogs and maybe one or two old school blogs thrown into the mix.  I don’t have the time or patience to wade through the crap, looking for the hidden gems that were once a good blog.  What ever happened to promoting things that you believe in?  Or at the very least, being creative about it!  My blog has ads and I will tell my readers about products like I like, but you will never find me pimping teeth whitening gels or dog shampoos.  I am even a member of Pay Per Post.  I too got taken in by the promise of crisp $5 dollar bills for blogging about other people’s junk.  But I don’t want to sacrifice a year of blogging, I don’t want to alienate my readership in the process.  Am I the only one that thinks that the blogging community is being hosed by these kind of services?  What ever happened to telling a story just to tell a story?
