Watch out ‘08!

Time for the 2008 New Year’s Resolutions

  • Make learning fun for SUB. It goes without saying really, that learning should be fun. I have been known to focus more on the fun, and less on the learning lately and I don’t want SUB to miss out on the important things. So, I am going to make it a point to start integrating more of the fundamentals into our playtimes. Colors, shapes, numbers and more books are on the agenda. He is picking up things so quickly, and I can’t wait to share the world with him through books and play.
  • Get more serious on the baby making. We just officially started in November, so not sure how long it will take us. I imagine some fertility drugs will be needed eventually, but we will take it as it comes. I promise to not stress out TOO much about it, since I know that stress makes it even harder. (so when I start to go crazy, refer me back to this post ladies!)
  • Continue on the health trail. I have another 25 pounds to lose, so I want to continue working on that goal. We have replaced beef with ground turkey for most of our meals now, and I am so used to buying low fat cookies and other treats that I don’t even miss their full-fat cousins. I also want to drink more water and take my vitamins.
  • Save up for a down payment on a house. Now that we are debt free, we are full steam ahead to buying a house. We plan to set aside all of my earnings for the next year or so to making this dream a reality.
  • Play more. We have spent so long pinching pennies, that I am going to make it a point to set aside a little mad money each month to have some fun with super-daddy. We are going to start going out to dinner more, maybe to a movie once a month, etc. We both deserve it!
  • Continue to grow my business. This year, I don’t have any plans for new websites (though that doesn’t mean it won’t happen so I want to focus on expanding the sites that I do have. I want to expand my diaper site and see if I can go from supporting my diaper habit, to maybe making a little bit of profit.
  • Spend time with my friends. This past year I have really been blessed with some wonderful friends, and I am enjoying spending time with them and getting to know what makes them tick. All too soon, our babies will be going to school and we will all go separate ways. So, I want to make the most of the time we have.
  • Tell SUB and Super-Daddy that I love them each and every day. I do this anyway, but it can’t hurt right?

  • The Year in Review

One of the neat things about blogging is that you have a public forum to hold yourself accountable to. So, for your viewing pleasure, I give to you the year in review.

My 2007 resolutions were the following:

    1. Play with Spitup boy more- he is now at the stage where he can actually play with things, and I want to spend as much time as possible down on the floor with him exploring the sites, tastes, and smells that the world has to offer.
    2. I am going to go to bed before midnight at least once a week.  No excuses.
    3. I am going to spend more time kissing Super-daddy.  It can’t hurt anything right?
    4. I am going to work smarter- not longer.  2006 was a monumental year for me, as I started to branch out with my own projects.  In 2007- I am going to find a balance between my own projects and those of my clients.
    5. I am going to limit my dr. pepper intake and remember my medicine every day.
    6. I am going to start doing the Stripper Aerobic tapes again- cause every girl needs to know how to do a good striptease.
I am not going to say that I will lose a certain number of pounds, I just want to be healthier for SUB.

So how did I do? Pretty good actually.

    1. The playing with SUB thing is so very important, and I think that this one should really be a lifetime goal. Spend time with the ones you love, and let them know that you care about them each and every day. We should all strive for this, and sometimes I have to force myself to turn the computer off and hang out with the family. Cause at the end of the day, they are #1. This year I think I have done a pretty good job, and he really is so much fun these days.
    2. Going to bed at midnight. Yeah, I failed  miserably at that one. I am a night owl. That’s all there is to that one.
    3. Kissing Super-Daddy. We are trying for another baby, so ’nuff said. :)
    4. On the work front, things went even better than I expected. I have a long list of sites to my credit now, and even took on an extra writing contract that just got renewed for another year. People always ask me how I manage to run all those websites, work for my clients, and keep the family happy and fed and I just smile and laugh, because I don’t even know how I do it sometimes.
    5. I totally rocked out this one. I have one Dr. Pepper a day and even cut back from a 12oz to an 8oz a day. And I take my medicine every day. No excuses.
    6. I can’t do stripper aerobics while the boy is up playing at my feet. Sorry, I just can’t. So I took up walking instead. I can without a doubt say that I nailed this resolution. I am much healthier now than I was a year ago. I have lost 75 pounds and am still going strong. I feel better, and I think I look better too.

So here’s to a great year! Check back tomorrow to see what I have brewing for ‘08. :)

  • Why we don’t co-sleep

    Psst….what’s Daddy doing?

    He’s sleeping…

    OK

    Psst…what’s you doing?

    Sleeping…

    Ok

    Psst…Mommy?

    Yes,baby?

    What’s Daddy Doing?

For 22 months now, I have been warning Super-Daddy to watch his language around the baby. Every time he let an expletive slip out in traffic, I was quick to tell him to watch his language. (He was in the military, so he is a black belt at cussing) And for the most part, his language has gotten better. So, who would have thought that SUB’s very first curse word would come from Mommy. The very woman who has been made fun of for “not cussing right.” Apparently, I don’t do it with enough conviction or something…according to Super-Daddy.

The only word I do say, only slips out in the heat of the moment. The baby falls off the high bar chair, even though I have told him a million times not to sit up there.

    “Oh Shit!”

The toddler tries to jump from the couch to the ottoman, and misses it by a mile and lands face down on the carpet.

    “Oh Shit!”

Someone cuts me off in traffic, almost causing an accident.

    “Oh Shit!”

So, our precious little angel has taken to the S word like a duck to water.

    He drops a toy…

    “Oh, Shit!”

He grumbles as he bends down to pick the toy up.

He can’t get the oversized plastic coins into his plastic piggy bank.

    “Oh Shit!”

Boy are they going to love this kid in kindergarden.
