There are a few topics that seem to come up time and time again, and I would like to address them here, in a public forum. Should anyone ever ask me the following questions again- I will refer them to this url for further information. I know you all mean well, and seem genuinely concerned for my well being. But I assure you that I will survive. I promise.
Question # 1: How long are you planning on nursing baby Z?
Answer: While I would like to say “none of your dang business” I understand that could be construed as nasty. So instead I will say, “until we are good and ready to stop.” I didn’t get to nurse SUB, and have worked my butt off to establish the nursing relationship that I currently have with Z. I enjoy the time I get to spend with him, the snuggles, the cuddles….oh and did I mention that I get to eat an extra 500 calories a day while nursing? So let’s review: I get to sit on the couch a few times a day and watch TV and snuggle with my kids, and I can eat a couple donuts guilt free. What exactly is my motivation to stop again?
And another thing- why the heck would I wean him to a bottle now, when he can start on sippees in like 4 months. That is just plain crazy people. I will keep him on tap thanks.
Question #2: Don’t you want to leave Z at home for a few hours and go out?
Answer: No. My toddler drives me crazy. My 8 month old is a happy, giggly ball of chub. I will wake up one day very soon, and he will be a back-talking 3 year old with an attitude. So I want to savor every moment of babyhood. Oh and If I do leave him at home, my boobs will start to hurt like a motha within a few hours. So here I am, at what the club?, engorged and in pain, worrying about my kids. Sounds really relaxing…
It took me 4 years to become a mom, and they will want nothing to do with me in a few short years. I will have plenty of time to myself when they are teenagers. So for right now, I will stay home watching cartoons and eating mac and cheese. Oh and if you want me to relax: take my toddler somewhere for a few hours and let him burn off some energy and leave me at home with Z. We will power nap/nurse for a few hours, and it is better than any spa day.
So there you have it- the top 2 questions that I am getting asked on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis. I have been carrying about these triple DDD’s for 29 years now, and I am finally putting them to work.

Since joining weight watchers 3 months ago, I have been on the look out for the perfect low point snack. I have found 1 point chocolate goodies…and 1 point bagels and tortillas, but they aren’t really “healthy.” Which is my fundamental problem. I can stay within my calorie count for the day, and never touch a veggie or a piece of fruit.
I have texture aversions. I don’t like slimy foods, so almost all fruit is out of the question. And raw veggies give me the heebies too. Seriously, is there no wonder I was fat? A carrot stick gives me the heebies???
Then one day I was cruising Diaperswappers (my second home) and came across a justtomatoes.com co-op. They raved about the veggies as toddler snacks, and said that they could eat dried carrots or corn like pop corn. I was interested, and signed up for the co-op. It ultimately fell through, which was fine with me because I found them at my local grocery store. They were in that healthy/granola aisle that I never went down. LOL I started with the mixed veggies, and am now buying a couple tubs of the stuff a week. My latest love- dried corn and carrots, with some creole seasoning. Tasty…and almost dare I say it…Healthy? (and my 3 year old eats the corn all day long!)
So when the folks at Funky Monkey Snacks contacted me about trying out their products I was up for the challenge. I had already found a love for dried veggies, so it seemed like a natural progression. We got a pack of each, and I have to say that some of them were….a miss for us. The worst of the bunch was the Bananamon (banana and cinnamon). Super-daddy (who loves all fruit) spit it out into the sink and swore off any of the other varieties with banana in them. After a bit of coaxing, I did get him to give it one more shot and try the pineapple and lime juice flavor- Jivealime and that one we both agreed was worth the money. I have NEVER liked pineapple and I helped him finish off that pack.
So long story short, I am trying to eat healthier and expanding my horizons but I am always making Super-daddy eat the first bite. Cause if he won’t eat it, then there is no hope for me!
